My Review of Dark Roads by Chevy Stevens

Title: Dark Roads  Author: Chevy Steven's  Expected Publication: August 3, 2021  Publisher: St. Martins Press  Genre: Mystery/Thriller  Pages: 384 pages  Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review:  This is a first for me by this author. This story is dark, depressing, disturbing and of course a page turner! Cold Creek Highway seems kinda like the urban legend type of story. Hitchhiking or being alone in the dark along the highway attracts the attention of the serial killer that preys on girls. So many of the girls that have disappeared along this highway are long forgotten! Now, this story is told immaculately by two different POV. We have Beth who comes into town to find out exactly what happened to her sister Amber who was killed on this stretch of highway a year earlier and then we have Hailey who basically escaped the wilderness around the town after finding out her uncle was definitely NOT who she thought that he was! These girls are tough and very resourc...

My Review of The House of Killers by Samantha Lee Howe

Title: The House of Killers Author: Samantha Lee Howe  Published: March 26, 2021  Published by: One More Chapter  Genre: Thriller  Pages: 390 Pages  Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review:  I definitely enjoyed the flight or fight response of this book! Neva us a cold blooded assassin basically trained just to follow and not to ask questions of any of the orders. When Neva is basically assigned to kill an older version of herself things change A LOT. She sits down and talks with her target and that's the first sting of her training unraveling. Michael is an agent in a top secret group and while he chases Neva he doesn't turn her in. There is a lot of cat and mouse kind of action between these two. Neva wants to take down the organization and wants Michael to help however, she doesn't feel like she can trust him. I enjoyed that each chapter gave the reader a different perspective because they are told by different characters. I also enjoyed that there wasn't a whol...

My Review of Goblin by Josh Malerman

Title: Goblin  Author: Josh Malerman  Expected Publication May 18, 2021  Publisher: Random House Publishing Group  Genre: Scifi/Horror  Pages: 376 Pages  Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐  Review:  If you are looking for something that will give you that will give you the full body chills with the creepy vibes then look no further! This is definitely the book for you! Now this is a group of novellas but they are creepy, while there are some that you will start to wonder like what's going on but then you will see how it all is connecting. Out of the six novellas I really enjoyed the prologue where the delivery guy is delivering something very strange and it definitely peaks your interest and then it ends up being far creepier than originally thought! Now I have to say as a prologue that definitely had to be a mic drop moment for Mr. Malerman! Then I really enjoyed A Mix Up at the Zoo too. Where Dirk has two jobs one at the zoo and the other at a slaughterho...

While the whole neighborhood is full of gossip and poi...

My Review of Dark One Village. 1 by Brandon Sanderson

Image
Title: Dark One Vol. 1 Author: Brandon Sanderson  Published: August 17, 2020 Published by: Vault Comics  Genre: Graphic Novels/ Fantasy  Pages: 224 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review:  So this was a first for me with this author. I had heard many great things about this author and I wanted to check out his stuff and let me just say I was not disappointed! I enjoyed the graphic novel because it just kinda jumped into the action right off the bat, like there was not any leading up to it was like BAM right there I enjoyed that aspect of the graphic novel! I also liked that the graphics were like the old school graphics and not the rounded out type of graphics in a lot of the graphic novels. I will have to say that it was intense but the intense aspect of the read made it very hard to put down! There is a lot of death, if that is a trigger for anyone but its really good! Lots of action and i enjoyed the classic good v. evil aspect of it too and dividing between the two wor...

My Review of A Special Place in Hell by Christopher Berry-Dee

Title: A Special Place in Hell: The World's Most Depraved Serial Killers  Author: Christopher Berry Dee  Expected Publication: June 1, 2021  Publisher: Ad Lib Publishers Genre: True Crime  Pages: 240 pages  Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review:  I  am a true crime junkie, and this was the first book that I have read by this author. It was a different experience and this author did not not hold back at all! The author is very detailed and talks about all the different serial killers in different prisons that he was able to speak with. This author did give very detailed interactions with the killers and he has a little bit of quirkiness to his conversations, which added a different vibe to his book. This did help the book a lot IMO. I enjoyed that this author did not try to justify the actions of the killers by their past or anything that could have been to blame like on upbringing or anything like that. He literally tells it how it is and he does not su...
