When most people hear stories about children who are adopted from other countries, usually it is seen as an ultimate act of sacrifice for the person to spend money and to want to try to help children in other countries that are less fortunate. However, these three children were adopted from Russia and they were adopted by a sadistic woman. It's very raw and emotional but worth every moment. I enjoy books such as this one because they give an unfiltered view into their life and what events shaped them into who they have become today!  Susan's mother was the center of everything when she was young. She came to America and sponsored other people so they could come into America and had them work in the successful nail salon she built from the ground up. However, Susan's mother tragically died from a botched tummy tuck when she was eleven. As any child would have Susan had lots of questions and she wanted to be able to grasp what happened to her mother and why. This is probably the best thriller that I have read this year! I was glued to the edge of my seat because I had to know who did it!!!  Lucy is in a tough spot one night her best friend is found murdered and to make things worse she is found covered in her blood and cannot remember anything about that night. When they did not have enough evidence to charge her with her friend's murder, the whole town firmly believed that she had killed Savvy and she had gotten away with murder. Knowing her whole hometown hated her she moved to another state and attempted to start a new life and leave the past behind her.
