Review:

🔥 *Death of an Ex* by Delia C. Pitts is the kind of mystery that grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go. I’m officially obsessed.

This is the second book I’ve read by Pitts, and once again—she delivers. Vanity Myrick returns in a high-stakes, emotionally charged thriller that’s dripping with secrets, betrayal, and the kind of twists that make you gasp out loud.

It all starts when Vanity’s ex-husband, Phil Bolden, shows up asking for help repairing his fractured relationship with his son. What follows is a night of shared grief, passion, and vulnerability as they mourn the loss of their daughter, Monica. But by morning—Phil is dead. Murdered.

A whirlwind investigation throws Vanity into Phil’s life, revealing layers she never anticipated. Bribes. Blackmail. A shady scheme to funnel students into elite schools. And beneath it all, a tangled web of money laundering and secrets that refuse to stay buried.

Since the community wants answers, Vanity must confront her past, and the more she uncovers, the darker things get. Every revelation feels like a punch to the gut, and the emotional weight of her history makes this mystery *so much more* than just a whodunit.

I couldn’t put it down. Pitts blends raw emotion with razor-sharp suspense, and the result is absolutely electric.

Huge thanks to Minotaur Books and NetGalley for the chance to read and review this gem. I’m already counting down the days until the next installment—because Vanity Myrick is a force, and I need more.
