She also is part of a two-woman partnership of a gambling club, she runs this club because she is trying to secure her financial future.  However, all of this becomes a tumble when her long-lost love returns to town.  Eli returns from the dead, well-pronounced dead years after being involved in a ship wreck. Now, Jane's cousin Cecily was engaged to Eli but when he was assumed dead she found another, even from the beginning Jane loved Eli. Title: Dead Dog Road  Author: Diane N. Black Published: March 24,2024  Published by: Black Flower Press  Genre: Nonfiction, True Crime  Pages: 322 pages  Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️  Review:  This is a heartbreaking story, a devastating reality for many children.  There are agencies that many parents fear but for the ones that need the agencies the most they seem to fall through the cracks. When most people hear stories about children who are adopted from other countries, usually it is seen as an ultimate act of sacrifice for the person to spend money and to want to try to help children in other countries that are less fortunate. However, these three children were adopted from Russia and they were adopted by a sadistic woman. As soon as these children arrived home they spoke Russian and she slapped them in the face and told them never to speak Russian again. These were children and they did not have a choice to come and did not understand. Then when the bo...

Title: The Manicurist’s Daughter  Author: Susan Lieu Published: March 12,2024 Published by: Celadon Books  Genre: Memoir/Nonfiction  Pages: 320 pages  Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rating:  This book was amazing! It's very raw and emotional but worth every moment. I enjoy books such as this one because they give an unfiltered view into their life and what events shaped them into who they have become today!  Susan's mother was the center of everything when she was young. She came to America and sponsored other people so they could come into America and had them work in the successful nail salon she built from the ground up. However, Susan's mother tragically died from a botched tummy tuck when she was eleven. As any child would have Susan had lots of questions and she wanted to be able to grasp what happened to her mother and why. But, her family shut down any questions about the death of her mother, as if they just moved on and left the death in the past. While Susan ...

Title: Listen for the Lie  Author: Amy Tintera  Published: March 5,2024 Publisher: Celadon Books Genre: Mystery, Thriller, Suspense  Pages: 353 pages  Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review:  Wow! This is probably the best thriller that I have read this year! I was glued to the edge of my seat because I had to know who did it!!!  Lucy is in a tough spot one night her best friend is found murdered and to make things worse she is found covered in her blood and cannot remember anything about that night. When they did not have enough evidence to charge her with her friend's murder, the whole town firmly believed that she had killed Savvy and she had gotten away with murder. Knowing her whole hometown hated her she moved to another state and attempted to start a new life and leave the past behind her. That was until two things happened: One she had to return to her hometown for her grandmother's birthday and two there was a podcaster doing a podcast about Savvy's murder an...
